We had to go through a tiny alleyway to get where we were going. So Stephanie and I wanted a picture.
First there was a fair with all sorts of booths. Here is one that helps you learn yoga:
They also had monks who study calligraphy drawing pictures:
Jump roping little girl in traditional Korean clothes. She was so cute trying to keep her Chima from getting caught in the ropes.
My posing with a girl in traditional Korean Jeogori and Chima.
Beginning of the Parade.
The Temple all decked out in lanterns.
Lanterns.
Somehow it happened that we were given lanterns and drafted into the parade. Here I am with my lanterns.
One of the floats. It seemed to be made of paper just like the lanterns.
In a moment of inattention on our part, Stephanie's scarf caught on fire. She is sad. I, on the other hand, am still laughing.
One of the less blurry pictures.
Insadong in Festival time
Really impressive peacock float
The peacock float and this float both BREATHED FIRE. Why are American parades not this awesome?
Lanterns.
beautiful photos - what are you complaining about! Thanks so much for sharing, I loved them.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to ask - how can I get one of those umbrella hats?! And....why are you and Stephanie wearing bindis?
ReplyDeletehahaha At first I thought it was wrapped in her hair and I was very intrigued but it turns out its just sitting there.
ReplyDeleteThe bindis are from a Indian stall - there were Buddhists from all over the world there... or rather, all over Asia.
